The DHall Awards

So if you're like me, you eat at Dhall at least three times a week. I know firsthand it can be hard to really find options. It's all so appealing! How can you not get all of it?  Sometimes I find myself so lost in the choices that I just end up getting a cheeseburger. BOOOORING (not to mention pretty unhealthy more than once a week).

I'll break it down for you. I've put together a list of my all-time (aka 2 1/2 years) favorite Dhall meals.

Best Salad: Make Your Own

I absolutely refuse to spend a whole punch on just a salad. It's just a waste! But one time they had some pecans and almonds near the waffles. I topped my salad off with chicken from Southern Bistro and the nuts with some oil and balsamic vinegar. Perfect. Mixing and matching between stations= delicious.

Best Pizza: Pesto

Hands down the pesto pizza. I'm a pesto freak anyway, but mixing that with mushrooms just makes your mouth water. Sometimes I even get two slices of it. It's a great vegetarian option, too!

Best Sizzles: Monte Carlo

Forget the burgers, the best thing ever served at Sizzles is the Monte Carlo sandwich. Imagine: grilled cheese PLUS ham and swiss. MELTED. It is amazing.

Best Deli: French Dip

Two words: FRENCH. DIP. That's all you need to know.

Best Soup: New England Clam Chowder

You'd think that living so far inland would damper the quality of this seafood soup, but it is still really great, especially on a cold fall day.

Best Southern Bistro: Baked Fish

Fish is delicious AND nutritious. Light and flaky fish served with lemon and green beans on the side? It doesn't get much more homestyle than that.

Best Dessert: Red Velvet Bars

RED VELVET BARS. I dare you to only eat one. The rich taste of the cake mixed with the creamiest of cream cheese will literally leave you speechless.

Did you know you can find out what Dhall is serving the whole week on the JMU Dining website? They have all the menus up for three weeks at a time, which is a great way to plan ahead for your meals.

So, readers, what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Tweet your favorite Dhall dish @smadfood411 to see your input in a follow up post right here on the blog!

  1. You offer a great amount of choices here and the graphics help a lot. If we could just see the photos of all the actual foods in Dhall, it would provide a more real presentation. However, I like the organizational aspect of the food listings.
