It's Good To Be In The Dog Pound

It's late and you're hungry. What do you do? There is little that is economically friendly. But if you have ever found yourself hungry at midnight, studying frantically for an exam, or finishing an assignment you procrastinated heavily on, you probably have your own routine. If your answer was no, you are a liar. If your answer was yes, then your frustration to find a place on campus to eat is shared by many. Most of us just order Domino's, Jimmy Johns, Dave's, Campus Cookies, or something similar, and spend our well earned money over the summer to curb out late night hunger crave.

Unbeknownst to many, the Dog Pound, located on the Grafton Theatre side entrance to Top Dog (also known as Phillips Hall) is an unhealthy option to add some calories to your diet and curb that crave. When we think of Dog Pound, we think of late night drunk food, usually on a friday night, when we spend 50 dollars for all of our friends somehow, and not remembering, wonder why we have no more dining dollars left on our account the next day.

But, Dog Pound is actually open 5 days a week, just closing on Sunday and Monday nights.
Friday and Saturday? 8pm till 2am.
Tuesday through Thursday? 10pm till 2am.

The problem is, we are lazy college students, who don't want to trek across campus (especially now that it is cold) to stand outside at a window and buy food, only to have to trek back to our dorms. Another problem? Off campus students, the majority, don't want to drive to campus, find a place to park, walk to Dog Pound, buy food, walk back, and drive back home. But Dog Pound's pros outweigh the cons. They accept dining dollars. They are cheap. They are on campus (debatable pro and con), and they are fast, and friendly. And let's be honest, most of us stay on campus for two years at least, and hopefully by the time we are juniors, we have a plan to have late night food when we get hungry. If not, busses run late. Who says you can't get Dog Pound when they open and take it back to your apartment, or back to the library with you (if you are tired of Starbucks muffins and scones that is).

Here's what they have to offer:
Side of Cheese (2oz)
Soft Pretzel (whole)
Hot Dog
Side of Chili
7" Cheese Pizza
7" Pepperoni Pizza
Chocolate Chip Cookie
Oatmeal Cookie
Nachos
Hot Chocolate

Whether you are drunk or not, this food is every college student's late night dream, but a dream that usually occurs on the weekend, because let's be honest, who actually walks to Dog Pound in their free time, or looks up online, whether or not they are open during the week? Unless you are blogging about it, I doubt you ever have. But now you know! Go to Dog Pound sober during the week to curb your late night hunger, and to remember how much you spent! Or go drunk during the week, whenever suits your fancy, but just know, When you're in the Dog Pound, your stomach and your wallet are happy.

  1. I like the pro's and con's you listed for the Dog Pound. It's true, I am way too lazy to actually make my way over there, especially now when it is freezing outside. To be honest, the food isn't even worth walking over for. I also had no idea that they were not open on Sunday and Mondays. Well, you learn something new everyday.
